We live here, we stay here!

Illustration made for Morion Venice

This poster of mine is born in support of a cause that is very dear to me for my city of Venice.

More than 2,200 public housing units are closed and unassigned. There has been a 17.4% average increase in rent from 2022 to 2023. Venice ranks 2nd in the list of cities with the highest residential rent in Italy. There are 49,693 beds for tourists and 49,304 beds for residents. We have lost 6,000 residents in 7 years.

It's time to say ENOUGH to the depopulation of our city!

It's time for all of us to come together to defend our right to live in Venice. It's time to demand real and concrete policies for residency. It's time to implement actions that address the needs of citizens, not tourists.

For years, the city administration has been working to create a vision of the city that excludes its residents rather than including them. Residency policies must once again prioritize housing and the right to live at the center and must also encompass all the services that enable life in the city: schools, hospitals, secure employment, local services, spaces, and much more.

We want to start with ourselves, with those who live in Venice and want to continue to do so: those who were born here, those who have chosen to move here, those who are seeking a home, those who accept annual contracts just to stay, those who have left and want to return, those who are studying and want to build their future here.
